(You can, however, still be listed as a co-author on multiple presentations and posters.)

    Organized Sessions:

Proposals for Organized Sessions are due February 10th, 2012 (Earlier communication with the Lead Conference Chair, Naomi Krogman, is encouraged in the planning stages to facilitate coordination of sessions).

In addition to regular individual paper submissions the ISSRM encourages diverse forms of communication addressing management concerns and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue. Individuals who wish to organize special sessions, round tables (an opportunity for participants to come together and discuss a particular topic), panel sessions (a series of speakers on the same topic), film or video presentations or any other form of scientific or science – management exchange.

The proposal should include the session title, a description of its purpose and content (<500 words), the names, affiliation and country of the person organizing the session and each of the proposed participants.  Please provide contact information (full name, work address, and email address, phone number) of the organizer for the organized session.

For all types of coordinated sessions, organizers should seek a geographically and intellectually diverse group of participants.  We strongly encourage all organized sessions to identify contributors whose work will allow for comparisons across different theoretical or disciplinary perspectives, methodological approaches, and geographic and cultural contexts.

For organized scientific paper sessions, the proposal should include the name of the author(s), paper titles, and email contacts for each paper that is part of the coordinated session. It is also necessary to describe the purpose & organizing theme for the coordinated session.  The person submitting the proposed session abstract will be considered the session organizer (though they need not present a paper). If a discussant is desired, that should be included in the description of the proposed organized paper session. Presenters of full scientific papers (oral presentations) within a organized session are also required to submit their abstracts separately on the regular conference web site by the January 15, 2012 deadline, but should note on their submission that the paper is part of a proposed coordinated session. Note that when submitting the abstracts for each individual paper in these coordinated sessions, the paper authors will need to enter the session organizer’s email address.

For organized sessions that use other formats (i.e., are not pre-arranged scientific paper presentations), there are several options:

Panel discussions or round tables. The proposal should indicate the proposed session format, the responsibilities of each participant, and (if appropriate) a title and a short description of the purpose of the panel discussion or round table.  If each of the participants in the panel discussion will be covering a specialized part of the session, you may wish to give us titles for their discussion pieces (not required). Abstract submissions from participants of these types of sessions are not required.

Applied workshops, film screenings, and other types of sessions, The proposal should specify the intended audience, include a detailed description of the format of the workshop, and outline the names, affiliations, and contributions of each presenter.

    General Guidelines
Organizers of all types of coordinated sessions will be responsible for:

    1. being the primary point of contact with the ISSRM 2012 Program Chairs,
    2. contacting the participants to ensure they are registered for the meeting & will attend the session
    3. serving as the chair (or designating a person to chair) for each session

Organized sessions should be organized around 75 minute blocks. For coordinated paper sessions, no more than 4 speakers should be listed per 75 minute block.  For panel sessions, please allow time for discussion, question & answer periods, etc.  It is possible to propose coordinated sessions that stretch across multiple blocks, although the ISSRM 2012 Program Chairs reserve the right to constrain the time on the program allotted to each proposal.

In order to submit an abstract for coordinated sessions you must first create an account.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:

Proposals for Organized Sessions submitted after February 10th, 2012 will not be accepted!
