Transportation and Parking

  • Edmonton provides a variety of ground transportation options, including a city-wide public transit service, to help you get in, out, and around the city.

     

    Edmonton Public Transit System (ETS) http://www.edmonton.ca/transportation/edmonton-transit-system-ets.aspx

    The Edmonton Transit System provides city-wide bus and Light-Rail-Transit (LRT) service, and can bring you right to the University of Alberta’s front steps. A one-way adult ticket on either the bus or LRT is $3.00 and is good for 90 minutes from the time of purchase.

    University of Alberta LRT stations include Heath Sciences Station (3 blocks south of Campus, 3 blocks east of Lister Centre) and University Station (on campus, 6 blocks northeast of Lister Centre). University Station is also a main hub for the bus line. Several buses travel along Whyte Avenue, where several shops, restaurants, and other establishments (including the Metterra Hotel) are located. There is also bus service from the Edmonton International Airport. see the ETS website for specific ticket outlets and route details.

    Taxi services

    Edmonton’s taxis provide city-wide service, including to and from the airport.

    Sky Shuttle (http://www.edmontonskyshuttle.com/)

    The Sky Shuttle provides transportation to and from the Edmonton International Airport at a non-refundable fee of $18 per adult (one-way) or $30 per adult (round-trip). Trips from the airport into the city may be booked upon arrival at the airport, at the Sky Shuttle kiosk. Please inform the Sky Shuttle cashier of your destination and they will book you on the next available shuttle.

    Trips from the city to the airport must be booked ahead of time, at a pre-designated time and location (http://www.edmontonskyshuttle.com/pick-up-locations/) You may book the Sky Shuttle by phone (780-465-8515) or using their online booking system.

    Visitor Parking

    Parking at the University of Alberta is available in several lots and parking garages. As some of these lots are not staffed, please be sure to read all posted signs as all lots require payment. Parking areas close to the symposium buildings include the Education Car Park, Varsity Parking lot, Stadium Car Park, ECERF/ETLC Car Park.
